About Lincoln Park
The Lincoln Park area of Detroit Michigan has gotten kind of a bad rep over the years, since people immediately associate anything described as a "Detroit suburb" with images of gang shootings and random violence. However, the sort of crime prevalent on Detroit's largely impoverished North-central side is all but a myth in the southern quarters. While far from Beverly Hills, the average family income of close to $50K per year all but ensures that the area is in no danger of becoming another "8-mile and Van Dyke." (Where, incidentally the median income is some 31K per year less than in the Lincoln Park area.) While those in the more northern suburbs are notorious for "Devil's Night" and its associated violence and arson, those in the Lincoln Park, Michigan area seem to find a subtler medium for the expression of angst. From ACLU lawsuits over school uniforms to the formation of multi-platinum electronic rock bands, it is fairly safe to say that those who might be burning down crack-houses in other neighborhoods would find the levels of excitement available in Lincoln Park a tad bit banal. With the bustle and excitement of Detroit and Windsor so nearby, it should come as no surprise that the largely residential area of Lincoln Park cannot boast of having much in the way of amusements or major shopping. Though the area is peppered with a number of small shopping centers and chain stores, residents are pressed to travel a bit down Fort Street to find fun in one of Detroit's many well-known clubs.
