Midtown Detroit
About Midtown Detroit
Midtown Detroit Michigan is a two mile area circled by freeways and featuring Brush Park Historic District. This area is like a smaller neighborhood within the Midtown area ,designated as being between New Center and downtown Detroit. The Brush Park Historic District is home to some exquisite Victorian Era architecture that are kept up by new residents who are probably intrigued with the immensity of the mansions. The District was begun by Detroit's second mayor in the 1850's and attracted some of the wealthiest people in the country. Although, the Gilded Age that saw the construction of these fabulous Victorian mansions has long since past and the Urban League now maintains one of it more prominent mansions, Albert Kahn's built in 1906, the area is well worth a visit to recapture the opulence of the Victorians in their last remaining vestige in Midtown Detroit Michigan. Actually, the parade of Victorian mansions would be worth a day of sightseeing to the old town. Midtown Detroit Michigan also has the Detroit Historical Museum and the Cultural Center where one can view galleries and also have your choice of restaurants. Located in Midtown Detroit's Cultural Center is Wayne State University founded in 1868 and is a public research institution. The campus is 203 acres in the heart of Detroit, Michigan.
